Practical governance assurance for not-for-profits, associations and member organisations.
How I can help your organisation
Ongoing governance support
Ongoing governance support for boards that want an expert hand available all year - not only when something goes wrong. I work alongside your board and executive across the governance calendar: board and committee papers, policy and framework development, compliance monitoring, and a sounding board for the chair and CEO on the issues that don't fit neatly into a meeting agenda.
Best for: not-for-profits and associations without in-house governance expertise, or a board that wants continuity between formal reviews.
Governance reviews
Governance is more than a well-run board - it's the whole system an organisation uses to make decisions and account for them: delegations, policies, risk and compliance settings, the information reaching decision-makers, and the culture that determines what gets escalated. I test whether that system holds up under pressure, at whatever depth the situation calls for: a single policy set, a framework audit against a maturity model, or a whole-of-governance review and delivery of the uplift itself.
Best for: boards meeting a funder or regulator expectation, in transition (new chair or CEO, merger, rapid growth), dealing with a decision that exposed a gap - or simply wanting to know where they stand, and to show they've looked.
Code review + development
Codes of practice and self-regulatory schemes that lift standards and hold up to scrutiny - without strangling the organisations that have to live by them. I design new codes and schemes from the ground up and independently review existing ones: consulting industry, regulators, consumers and members, and building the monitoring and governance that makes a code more than words on a page.
Best for: industry associations, peak bodies and schemes establishing, reviewing or strengthening a code of practice.
Stakeholder consultation
A way through the issues where the stakeholders are the hard part - reforms, mergers and contested decisions that need consensus without losing momentum. I design and facilitate consultations on complex, sensitive matters: convening members, boards, industry, regulators and government, surfacing the real positions, and moving the room to an agreed way forward while keeping my independence intact.
Best for: organisations facing a contested reform, a merger or integration, or any decision where getting people on side is the difference between progress and stalemate.
Let’s talk.
Not sure which is the right fit? That's usually the first conversation. Tell me what your board or organisation is grappling with and I'll tell you honestly whether — and how — I can help.
